Salt air and the rust on your door—I never needed anything more. Just as Taylor Swift so beautifully puts it, August slipped away like a bottle of wine. I adore August. It’s always been a month of new beginnings, of transitions. Whether it’s the start of a new school year or the shift in weather, August brings a wave of excitement. This August in Austin was spent with friends, family, and a whole lot of alone time—if you know me, you know that’s not exactly my favorite. But it was necessary. Taking time to sit with my thoughts has set me up for the months ahead and all the possibilities fall has in store.
Now, let me share a few of my August favorites, the things that helped me savor this beautiful month:
Tucked away at the back of the store, hidden like treasure, is the Anthropologie sale section. With a tight budget in mind, sales are always my first stop, of course. Last trip, I found a gem—this delicate 14k gold-plated ring necklace. Not only do I wear it as a necklace, but the ring fits perfectly on my pinky. A 2-for-1 deal? Yes, please.
I started this book at the beginning of August and fell completely in love with it. Huge shoutout to Jordan, who generously lent it to me and first introduced me to Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s fabulous life and style. The book offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of American royalty—Carolyn and John Jr. While their story ends in tragedy, their legacy and impact on American culture are undeniable.
Notes of bergamot, sweet fig, matcha, and bitter orange create this dynamic fragrance. Inspired by Le Labo’s Matcha 26, this perfume is an affordable yet powerful alternative. I’m a big fan of Le Labo—Bergamote 22 is my signature scent—but for something lighter, I reach for Dossier’s take. It gives me that perfect summer vibe while still delivering the bergamot notes I crave.
Trimmed in baby pink and filled with the most luxurious rose scent, my LAFCO candle is an almost daily indulgence. A gift from my Nanny, it takes me back to Christmastime at home—cold champagne, warm seafood gumbo, and presents by the tree. The scent is subtle but fills the room beautifully, and once it’s done, the container doubles as a keepsake.
At-Home Spa Vibes – Robes, Body Scrubs, Nice Shampoo & Conditioner...:
A few months ago, I treated myself to a nice robe, and it has truly changed my life. After a long August day, there’s nothing better than wrapping up in something cozy. The "everything shower" you know, the one that takes forever is a daunting but essential part of my routine. To make it enjoyable, I add a body scrub or a lavender shower steamer (thanks, Elise!). Nice shampoos, my favorite playlist, and the natural light transform it into a spa-like experience.
So tell me, what were your August favorites? Did you read a great book or find a new wardrobe piece you’re excited to style for fall? Let me know!
Ok, love you. Bye!
