Quick Trip

Whether it's a long flight to Italy or a quick trip back to Lafayette, flying is always a luxury I cherish. I’m not big on driving, so every chance I get to board a plane feels like a special treat. I’ve perfected my travel routine, and thankfully, the Austin airport is easy to navigate and usually a breeze to get through (knock on wood). This week, I’m heading back home to Louisiana for some much-needed family time. I’ll keep it short, but I’ll also let you in on my go-to travel essentials. With holiday travel ramping up, I know things can get stressful, but let’s not forget—whether it’s dealing with layovers or, heaven forbid, an aisle seat, the gift of travel is one to appreciate. I’m feeling grateful and excited for the adventures ahead.

  1. The Bags: I keep it streamlined—one carry-on and one personal item. A nude-colored hard-shell suitcase and my trusty large tote. Lately, I’ve been using my blue Foyard, and it’s perfect for holding everything while keeping things chic. Honestly, a polished luggage setup just feels good while navigating the airport (or sprinting through it, but hopefully not!).

  2. The Reading: For short flights, a magazine is always my top pick. It’s the perfect time to indulge in glossy pages and inspiring photoshoots. I’m a Vogue girl through and through, and lucky me—Jordan’s subscription glitch means we get two copies each month, so I always snag one. If I’m not flipping through that, I’ve got a non-fiction or easy read in rotation to pass the time.

  3. The Plane Prep: Once I’m through security and can finally relax, it’s treat time. I always grab an Evian and a protein bar or something snacky but healthy-ish. Keeping the blood sugar in check is key—I do whatever I can to avoid anxiety spirals.

  4. The Outfit: Pants are non-negotiable on flights. Seriously, how do people fly without something covering their legs? I’m all about cute, comfy airport looks, and planning my outfit the night before is a must. My go-to? Flowy or silky pants, a lightweight tee, and a cozy sweater for extra warmth. Shoes? I’ll usually wear my biggest pair—either boots or the ultimate dad sneaker, my New Balance 990s.

  5. The Sound: Plane time means it’s headphone time. I bring my over-ear Beats, which double as ear muffs when it’s chilly. I also have a carefully curated playlist with some of my favorite tear-jerker songs and white noise. There’s something about the altitude that makes it the perfect setting to let out all the feels, right?

Do you have any trips coming up? Let me know and tell me some of your airport go-tos or hacks. Safe travels!

Ok, love you, bye.
