In recent years, thrifting has truly taken off. As someone who loves a good deal and thrives on the thrill of the hunt, it’s the perfect combo for me. It's a way to treat yourself while scoring something special. Sure, some people shy away from the idea of sifting through racks of clothes, but I promise, the hard work usually pays off. That said, not every thrift trip is a win but patience is key. Today, I’m sharing my top 5 thrifting tips, along with some of the gems I’m on the lookout for this fall/winter season.
1. Know What You Want--When I first started thrifting, I’d grab anything remotely cute, only to realize a few days later, “Wait, do I even like this? Where would I wear it?” Trust me, this is a trap! Before you hit the stores, know what you’re after—whether it’s a new pair of jeans or a cozy coat for the colder months ahead. Go in with an idea and just focus on that, don't overwhelm yourself!
2. Make It an Event--For me, thrifting is a treat, a mini mental break. It’s true what they say—retail therapy can spark some serious endorphins! Make the experience special. Grab a coffee from your favorite spot, bring a friend, or try out a new thrift store. Make it fun and stress-free, turning it into an activity rather than an obligation.
3. Broaden Your Search--Can’t find that dream piece in-store? Don’t worry—it’s out there somewhere. I’m a big eBay girl, but there’s also Poshmark, The RealReal, and so many other places to check out. Trends are cyclical, and someone, somewhere has what you’re looking for. If you find a pair of red satin pumps for $200 but can’t stomach the price tag, try searching for a dupe on eBay. Use Google’s reverse image search to help—trust me, it works wonders.
4. Be Patient--Not every thrift trip will be a jackpot, and that’s okay! Don’t force a purchase just to make it “worthwhile.” If you leave empty-handed, think of it as a practice round. Inventory rotates constantly, and you can always come back in a week or two. Unless I’m absolutely in love with something, I remind myself that I don’t need to buy it just for the sake of buying.
5. Do Your Research--Pinterest, Pinterest, Pinterest! It’s my go-to for inspiration, and yes, it is social media. I have a board with over 1,000 pins and counting. Reviewing my saves helps me focus on what I’m drawn to—like recently, I’ve been pinning lots of suede. So now when I hit the thrift store, I know suede is on my radar, and I won’t feel so overwhelmed by the options. Take some time to play on Pinterest and see what you keep being called to! It will help cultivate your personal style and make your thrift trip a bit easier.
Thrifting doesn’t have to be complicated or serious. Sometimes the best finds come when you’re just casually browsing. I’ve put together a little collage of the pieces I’m hunting for this season—hopefully, it sparks some inspiration for your own wardrobe!

Ok, love you. Bye!
